CWW has a number of urgent and exciting placements for Finance professionals and Accountants


3-6 months - Ongoing


The Project:
CWW has a variety of volunteer opportunities available for Finance Professionals and Accountants. Our 6 current priority placements are with innovative delivery partners providing vital services to local communities in India, Belize, Kenya and Sri Lanka

Finance assignments:
All volunteers are matched to placements with delivery partners, that match their skills, experience and availability. Finance Professionals can be involved in a number of crucial tasks including:
  • Generating simple, and accessible profiles of an organisations financial situation
  • Setting up and training staff in financial recording and reporting systems
  • Reporting on current funding streams and income
  • Developing financial plans containing action steps, budgets, staff and fundraising plans
  • Researching and advising on potential revenue generating projects
  • Investigating and reporting on future funding avenues from within countries and overseas.

  • You:
    Volunteers with a range of skills and experience have a lot to offer and learn from working with our partners overseas. In particular we are looking for volunteers with the following skills and experience:
  • Developing and writing financial plans
  • Accountancy and managing financial accounts
  • Researching and producing income-generating and fundraising strategies
  • Bookkeeping and training in finance recording systems
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills


  • They will also be:
  • Self motivated with the ability to work independently
  • Professional, flexible, resourceful, creative and culturally sensitive.

    Finance Professional Case Study:
    Alasdair MacFarlane – Centre for Social Research, Delhi, India.


    The Centre for Social Research (CSR), one of India’s leading women's institutions working in the field of social action was formed in 1983. The organisation works in the areas of research and training, capacity building and networking and advocacy. Their work concentrates on political empowerment – enabling women to participate equal to men in elections; economic empowerment – through the organisation of self- help groups, focussing on micro-credit enterprises and sexual empowerment – addressing social and reproductive health.

    Alasdair, a CWW volunteer spent six months working with CSR to define a five-year financial strategy and cash flow model to project the gradual shift from grant-funded to a revenue generating model. The organisation now seeks additional CWW volunteer advisors including a Business Development Advisor to explore corporate sponsorships and new areas of expansion including collaborations with their Gender Training Institute and assist in creating HR policies including staff development and performance measures as well as remuneration and retention plans.
