The Project:
Background to Organisation
The Women’s movement, established in 1987, aims to empower women by generating awareness of women’s rights and women’s issues and to build the capabilities of women through assisting them to acquire knowledge and skills in a holistic manner that will enable greater self-reliance and responsibility. This is an exciting and dynamic role which will allow you to develop a range of new skills and experience in a demanding position whilst also making a positive difference to the local community.
Purpose of Placement
The effectiveness and efficiency of human resource development, business planning and development, financial and strategic planning is improved through a review of the organisations systems and processes at headquarters and outstation, and the development of a five-year strategic plan drawn up alongside all stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities
List the duties and responsibilities that will be required of the volunteer
- Understand the nature and function of the organisation and relationship between the organisation’s central office and it’s outstation business operations
- Review the organisations operational systems and processes and identify areas for strengthening
- Working alongside stakeholders at the central office develop strategies for improved organisational and business effectiveness and efficiency
- Assess HR procedures, and develop this area.
- Alongside stakeholders develop a five year strategy with implementation plan to guide SWM through its next phase of development

You:
Skills and Experience Required
Essential:
- An organisational consultant with a good knowledge in marketing, human resource management and financial management.
- The volunteer identified should have a good knowledge of small business development so that all activities, including income generation, focus assets could be assessed and included in the strategy for future survival and growth.
- The volunteer must be able to go outstation on field trips.
- At least five years of work experience as a business manager
- Proven track record of business devlopment
- Experience of writing and executing business plans
- Be able to adapt to local market conditions and culture
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Have experience in managing people and training / coaching
- Have the ability to manage a significant workload independently.
- Be computer literate with a sound knowledge of MS Office packages,
- Confident, motivated, flexible, enthusiastic and willing to learn.
- Be willing to travel and work in outstations
