The Project:
Background
In the early 1980's tourism was of relatively little importance in Belize. Nonetheless, it was an evolving industry that was impacting various sectors. A group of individuals foresaw the importance of the industry and anticipated the need for a medium through which tourism concerns could be voiced.
Today this six hundred member strong association boasts of representation on every relevant committee, which in itself is proof of its continued commitment to national development. As a direct consequence of the organisation’s initiatives, tourism has become the fastest growing industry and has been pushed to the forefront of government's priorities.
In the international arena, this organisation continues to serve as an ambassador for Belize, marketing the country's attractions and services at all major trade shows and voicing its views at symposiums, conferences and forums.
Duties and Responsibilities
The volunteer will have the following responsibilities:
- Review membership structure of similar associations in the Caribbean, Central America and other areas with a view to identify a structure for replication.
- Review current membership structure with a view to recommend a new more applicable structure
- Recommend alternative structure with justification
- Review membership dues structure of similar associations in the Caribbean, Central America and other areas with a view to identify possible structures applicable
- Review current membership dues structure with a view to recommend a new structure that is applicable allows for ease of collection, equity in application, while being either revenue neutral or increase revenue earned
- Review current revenue streams, survey similar regional organizations for possible revenue streams able to be replicated in the Belize setting
- Recommend projects and/or initiatives that on maturity become revenue streams that improve the financial viability of the organisation.

You:
Skills and Experience Required
- At least three years of relevant experience
- Skilled in project management, reporting and produceing deliverables to specified deadlines
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Have the ability to manage a significant workload independently.
- Experience of giving presentations and facilitating meetings
- Experience conducting market and stakeholder research
- Experience setting and devising objectives, strategies and tasks
- Be able to adapt to local working conditions and culture
- Strong analytical skills
- Be computer literate with a sound knowledge of MS Office packages
- knowledgeable in the area of design, developing and analyzing revenue development schemes
- Confident, motivated, focused, organised, flexible, enthusiastic and willing to learn.
