To support the Executive Director in the development of a Marketing Plan for a National Park in line with the Business Plan in consultation with the staff, Advisory Council, private and business sector

Background

A non-profit, non-governmental organization in Belize, dedicated to motivate the public to protect the environment through conservation awareness while enhancing the development of the human resource. The organization has been in existence since 1989 conducting environmental conservation activities and is primarily recognized for promoting civic pride among Belizeans, through outdoor experiential programs. In 2007 the organisation began an active co-management program with the Forest Department for the protection of Belize's largest protected area, comprised of 264,003 acres of tropical forest. This wilderness area is part of a tri-national bioregion forming the largest remaining contiguous block of tropical forest north of the Amazon. It is an area of outstanding biological diversity and provides critical habitat for many endangered species. It also forms a key part of the internationally supported Mesoamerican Biological Corridor. The following are the organisations main objectives:
  1. To foster environmental conservation action
  2. To promote civic pride and respect for our natural heritage
  3. To promote an understanding of the natural world
  4. To improve management of protected areas
  5. To develop the human potential through conservation work
  6. To integrate local community participation
  7. To develop collaborative networking


Duties and Responsibilities
  • Review and improve the organisations logo and park image.
  • Update and improve the organisations webpage to align with the organisations image and marketing objectives.
  • Design and market the organisations Eco-Quest Expedition operations.
  • Develop tour packages with high level of attractiveness and marketing plus.
  • Work with the Board to activate the marketing program and fundraising abilities.
  • Work closely with the organisations Financial Committee to build capabilities.
  • Identify partners in marketing schemes.


You:

Skills and Experience Required

  • 3 to 5 years experience in marketing
  • Experience of research and planning communications/marketing strategies for the development of products and services
  • Experience of providing training in marketing
  • Strong ICT skills
  • Experience of writing and producing materials.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Experience of giving presentations
  • Experience conducting stakeholder research
  • Interest in or awareness of environmental issues
  • Should be able to work independently of others and be able to plan clearly and without much external input.
  • Be computer literate with a sound knowledge of MS Office packages,
  • Confident, motivated, enthusiastic and willing to learn.
  • Professional, flexible, resourceful, adaptable, creative and culturally sensitive.
