The Project:

Background organisation

The organisation is the economic arm of a larger organisation in Sri Lanka. Its main objective is to alleviate poverty by promoting economic empowerment of rural people for a sustainable livelihood. It was transformed as a separate legal entity by incorporating its services as a limited liability Company under the Companies Act of Sri Lanka. Vision: ‘We are envisioned by a society of awakening individuals, families and communities encompassing an awakening nation, where as the human mind is being healed, so is human society and the environments.’ Its main focus is on:


1. promoting humanitarian values
2. disaster response
3. disaster preparedness
4. health and community care


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Preparation of annual Budget for Revolving Fund and administration.
  • Monitoring monthly actual expense against budget (Revolving Fund and Administration)
  • Study the system and identification of weakness and recommendation to correct weakness.
  • Preparation of reporting formats or revision of existing formats in use
  • Cash flow preparation and monitoring.
  • Assistance to the accountants for Fund Management.
  • Preparation of Ratio Analysis and interpretation of Ration to Assist Management.

    The consultant will be expected to assist staff to handle above work in a better manner.

    The ultimate task is to advise and assist in formulating a budgetary control system to manage approximately 60 branch offices.

  • You:

    Skills and Experience Required

    Three to five years professional experience, including:

  • Accountancy and managing financial accounts
  • Bookkeeping and training in finance recording systems
  • Experience of accountancy/ managing financial accounts
  • Knowledge and experience in budgeting and fund management in a financial institution will be helpful.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Experience of giving presentations
  • Experience of facilitating meetings
  • Experience of providing training
  • Experience of writing and producing materials.

    Candidates should also be:
  • Self motivated with the ability to work independently
  • Professional, flexible, resourceful, adaptable, creative and culturally sensitive.
