The Project:
Purpose of Placement
Purpose of placement
The assignment, lasting for about six months, the volunteer would:
Take a close look at the status of social businesses in Africa to develop a comprehensive strategy for the organisation to tap these markets, complete with suggestions on which areas of Africa to enter and why
Discover what consulting services would add value in those markets
Assist in the implementation of these strategies.
The volunteer would need to work closely with the team at Intellecap at all times in order to develop the above documents.

This organisation is a company that is moving out from the start-up phase to a phase of growth. It is looking for a volunteer who has worked in a consulting environment in a senior role, and is familiar with the organizational development needs of such an enterprise. These inputs would be invaluable for its growth.
Duties and Responsibilities
The volunteer would be required to:
Read, discuss, analyse and synthesise learnings from the organisation’s work
Use this understanding to develop the documents, with assistance from other members.

You:
Skills and Experience Required
The volunteer would need:
- At least five years of work experience as a business manager
- Proven experience in a business/ strategic development role
- Experience of researching, developing, writing (or contributing to) and executing business and strategic plans
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Have experience in managing people and training / coaching
- Have the ability to manage a significant workload independently.
- Experience in building organizational capabilities through need analysis, organisational development interventions, training and facilitation, and program evaluation
- Ability to write reports and procedure manuals
- Experience of giving presentations and facilitating meetings
- Experience conducting market and stakeholder research
- Experience setting and devising objectives, strategies and tasks
- Be able to adapt to local market conditions and culture
- Strong analytical skills
- Be computer literate with a sound knowledge of MS Office packages
