To work with an organisation which promotes the advancement of Legal and Human Rights in Tanzania, by assisting them with installing and maintaining computer hardware, software and networks.

The Project:
Purpose of Placement

The Information Technology Manager is responsible for installing and maintaining computer hardware, software and networks.

Background

The organisation was established in February 1997 in the Republic of South Africa at a human rights NGO conference hosted by the Lawyers Committee for Human Rights.

The organisation was established to provide a platform for discussion and advocacy on challenges facing human rights and development in countries of Southern Africa. The organisation-Tanzania Chapter was established in 1998 and performed its activities hosted by one of its member, the Legal and Human Rights Center, (LHRC).

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage information technology and computer systems
  • Ensure technology is accessible and equipped with current hardware and software
  • Monitor and maintain technology to ensure maximum access


You:

Skills and Experience Required

The ideal candidate will have:
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Computer hardware and software systems and programs
  • Computer networks, network administration and network installation
  • An understanding of the northern economic, cultural and political environment
  • Ability to install and administer computer hardware, software and networks
  • Management and supervisory skills and teambuilding skills
  • Computer skills including the ability to operate computerized accounting, spreadsheet, Word-processing, graphics and website development programs at a highly proficient level
  • Analytical and problem solving skills
  • Professional, flexible, resourceful, adaptable, creative and culturally sensitive.


As with many of our assignments, this position comes with the opportunity to become a chartered manager.
