TN01OD - Organisational Development Advisor

To work with an organisation in Tanzania as an Organisational Development Advisor, to create and oversee the delivery of Organisational Development (OD) talent management initiatives, leadership and staff development programs, and change management and communication services, and other organizational development efforts

The Project:
Purpose of Placement

The successful candidate for this position will work closely with senior staff and their teams to ensure the success of the organisation as the leader in home- and community-based care through the design and delivery of programs and services that facilitate the alignment of talent with the organization’s vision and strategy. The value of OD is recognized and embraced throughout the organization, especially at the most senior levels of leadership. The Director of Organizational Development will create and oversee the delivery of OD talent management initiatives, leadership and staff development programs, and change management and communication services, and other organizational development efforts, as well as play a leadership role in engaging and retaining the organisation workforce of today and tomorrow.

Background

The organisation was established in February 1997 in the Republic of South Africa at a human rights NGO conference hosted by the Lawyers Committee for Human Rights. The organisation was established to provide a platform for discussion and advocacy on challenges facing human rights and development in countries of Southern Africa. The organisation-Tanzania Chapter was established in 1998 and performed its activities hosted by one of its member, the Legal and Human Rights Center, (LHRC).

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Effectively provide consultation and engage key stakeholders as sponsor, champion, and driver of organizational effectiveness initiatives to meet business objectives
  • Work closely with the organisation management and other senior executives to create and implement solutions that drive employee attraction, engagement, and retention, as well as align employees with the organization’s culture, strategies, and vision
  • Further develop the vision and direction for the organization’s talent management strategy, including performance management, talent review, succession planning, and development planning
  • Create leadership and staff development strategies and programs and a culture of continuous learning aligned with the organization’s strategic direction
  • Create and implement change management approaches and communication strategies to ensure successful change implementations tied to business results.
  • Create and implement methodologies for sharing best practices across the organization
  • Develop methods to take the pulse throughout the organization to assess ongoing and changing needs


You:

Skills and Experience Required

The ideal candidate will have:
  • A master’s degree in organizational development, organizational psychology, organizational behaviour, human resources management, or equivalent.
  • Creative
  • Results-oriented
  • Leadership development
  • Change management, including strategy definition, process improvement, culture or system change, learning and meeting design, and communications
  • Experience leading high profile projects
  • Professional, flexible, resourceful, adaptable, creative and culturally sensitive.
