The Project:
Purpose of Placement
To facilitate documentation of the organization’s work, develop and implement media and campaign strategy.
Background
The organization has provided focal leadership to Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) in the region and plays a pivotal role in the coordination of peace building and conflict transformation initiatives and has over the years enjoyed community and grassroot trust and support from its constituencies especially youth and women.
The organization has over the last two years worked with the Coast people and peoples organisations on Peace building and conflict management, democratic governance and in Community asset management. Our goal is to contribute to sustainable development in order to reduce poverty, promote democratic governance and to contribute to a more secure, equitable, and prosperous world.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Literature review – to read the organizations reports and documents and prepare a summarised report of the organization;
- To attend organizational events and review audio visual clips and produce documentary on the organization’s work;
- To develop organizational media and campaign strategy;
- To train field staff on basic journalism;
- To create linkage with existing media houses in Mombasa.

You:
Skills and Experience Required
The ideal candidate will have:
- marketing qualification
- 2 years experience in Media and Communications
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Self motivated with the ability to work independently
- Willing to use public transport to and from areas of work
- Professional, resourceful, adaptable, creative and culturally sensitive
