The Project: >
Background
Our member organisation overseas is looking for a volunteer to help with the organisations long-term strategy. For a number of years the organisation has run various projects which address the problem of domestic violence in India. The latest project through a three tiered intervention strategy directly helps women who are facing violence and abuse, as well as changing the mentality of the wider community towards violence against women. This is done by providing counselling and legal assistance to the victims, establishing women's self-help groups and training community leaders to take a stand against domestic violence. However, to expand the work in this field and move to the next level, the organisation has identified the need to move from project base activities to developing long-term programmes. In order to achieve this, the organisation is currently looking to recruit a professional in the field of domestic violence to develop the organisation's long-term strategy in this particular area.
