Challenges CoachingTM has an immediate opportunity for a Resource Mobilisation and Advocacy Officer in a non-governmental organisation based in Nairobi, Kenya. This is an exciting and dynamic role which will allow you to develop a range of new skills and experiences in a demanding position whilst also making a positive difference to the local community.

The Project:
Purpose of Placement

As part of their campaigns, the organisation is seeking an individual to assist in lobbying various parts of the government, NGOs and other partners to support and provide assistance to their work.

Background

Our partner organisation was established in 1995 to promote and advance women human rights through dissemination, advocacy and knowledge development. They work towards a society free from all forms of violence against women and want to enhance their organisational sustainability.
The organisation’s programmes cover national, regional and community level advocating as well as research and information dissemination & communication.
The organisation’s overall objective is to generate and disseminate knowledge about violence against women in the construction of the Kenyan society and respective communities. They aim to catalyse and support the development of social movements that work to advance eradication of violence against women in communities and the realisation of the women’s human rights in Kenya. The organisation activities include:

- Targeted research on violence against women generally and in specific communities
- Documentation and dissemination of the information in forms appropriate for different constituencies
- Capacity building in targeted communities to create social movements of advocates against violence against women
- Advocacy for legislative, policy, attitudinal and practice changes towards eradiation of violence against women and realisation of their rights
- Institutional development to ensure the organisation sustainability and its work’s perpetuation

Duties and Responsibilities
  • To catalogue existing resources and identify resource gaps
  • Devise strategies of mobilising resources
  • To assist the organisation in mobilising resources from local and International donors
  • Assessing income generating activities to enable the organisation to be financially stable and sustainable
  • To assist in developing in-house capacity for resource mobilisation


You:

Skills and Experience Required

  • A background in marketing, community development and public relations
  • Experience in fundraising from donors
  • Experience in proposal writing and presentation
