KE06BD - Business Development Advisor

Challenges CoachingTM offers a structured programme for experienced professionals to help grow sustainable social business in emerging economies. Challenges CoachingTM has an immediate opportunity for a Business Development Advisor based in Kenya. This is an exciting and dynamic role which will allow you to develop a range of new skills and experiences in a demanding position whilst also making a positive difference to the local community.

The Project:
Purpose of Placement

The volunteer will focus broadly on organizational development.

Background

This is a non-governmental, non-partisan, membership organization that, recognising that Sexual and Gender-based Violence (SGBV) is culturally accepted in Kenya, is committed to transforming society and achieving, a just and dignified environment for women, in which their relationship with men is equal, and their rights and freedoms are respected and realized. The organisation’s programs are politically non-partisan and focus on lobby and advocacy activities that support the interests of the women of Kenya. The membership is open to individuals and women who share the same vision and mission, and are driven by positive values for women's development and empowerment.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Undertake an organizational evaluation.
  • Rationalize staff, roles and responsibilities and propose structures that shall support these for efficiency and effectives.
  • Review existing manuals (human resources and financial) and recommend enhanced internal systems and structures for efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Develop an effective and efficient management information system (MIS) both external and internal.
  • Staff member capacity building on resources mobilization and program management.
  • Review reporting and feedback mechanism and quality control.
  • Fundraising and resource mobilization.
  • Review communication strategy.
  • Advise on effective ways to implement strategic plan.
  • Review and advise on current structure and systems generally.
  • Review strategic plan for community radio.
  • Any other duties that will facilitate moves to the next level.


You:

Skills and Experience Required

  • Experience of researching, developing and writing (or contributing to) business and strategic plans
  • Experience setting and devising objectives, strategies and tasks
  • Experience of project planning, management
  • Experience of providing training
  • Proven experience in a business/ strategic development role
  • Experience in building organizational capabilities through need analysis, organisational development interventions, training and facilitation, and program evaluation
  • Analytical skills with policy development and operational procedure development abilities
  • Ability to write reports and procedure manuals
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Self motivated with the ability to work independently
  • Professional, flexible, resourceful, adaptable, creative and culturally sensitive.
